Why?

Why?

I wonder how many people on the start line of a race can answer that question. Why are they doing this? Especially something like Ironman or a marathon or any undertaking that involves kicking your own ass.

It’s important to know what your “why” is. It’s important because there will be a time in any tough race where it gets ugly and if you don’t know the answer to that question you will lack the mental fortitude to really push yourself. Without a clear “why” it’s easy to pack it in. Knowing who you are or who you strive to be in the darkest moments of those big events is like gold mentally.

When your body is begging you to stop it will start asking you why. If you know the answer and it is deeply rooted in your psyche and in your intent you can push through pretty much anything.

Know what your why is.
