If you think you are letting people down after you have a race that doesn’t meet your expectations you are probably wrong. We have a tendency to project outwards what we are feeling internally about ourselves. Usually the only person that feels let down is yourself. If someone does feel let down by how you did then they may not have the healthiest relationship with you or themselves- imagine if you were let down every time someone you knew did something that didn’t meet a certain expectation….it would be quite exhausting and a bit ridiculous.
The reality is that most people who attend a race to support you care about how you feel about your race not necessarily about your actual race. And with certainty they care more about what is going on in their own life than what is going on in yours.
It’s ok to be disappointed when you have a race that doesn’t go as planned- it means you care. But don’t worry about whether other people feel let down- if they do it’s their problem not yours.
