Habits vs. Mistakes

Habit

Is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur unconsciously

Mistake

Is an action or judgment that is misguided or wrong

Habits that are not productive or “bad” need to be identified and corrected. When you are trying to make useful, long-term improvements, focus on habits.

Mistakes on the other hand often have little permanence or regularity.

Too often we identify mistakes as the problem when we should be looking instead to identify habits that are counter productive.

Focus on changing habits rather than micromanaging mistakes.

Mistakes are small picture.

Habits are big picture.
